PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has slammed Gulf states including Saudi Arabia, after a group which he is a vice-president of, was placed on a terror list.

Hadi said it was not surprising that the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) was put on Saudi, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain's terror lists, due to their growing ties with Israel.

"These are the same countries that are pursuing the neutralisation of relations with Israel and countries within the International Masonic-Zionist network.

"Such political association is akin to a ship sailing astray in the vast ocean.
"They no longer have the will to act independently and righteously amid their failure to learn from their own long history of tyranny and dark ages," he said in a statement today.

It was reported on Thursday that the four Gulf states, dubbed the "anti-terror quarter", had added IUMS, the International Islamic Council “Massaa”, and 11 individuals to its terror list.

IUMS is a Qatar-based group, founded by scholar Yusuf al-Qaradawi. The quartet are currently at odds with Qatar, and have cut ties with the country.

In his statement, Hadi said the quartet now believed more in Zionists than in Allah and Islam.

"The Arab civilisation was respected because of Islam but is now crumbling under the weight of their own crimes by recognising the Zionist regime and neglecting Palestine and its rights.

"They are now driven by their belief and admiration for the Zionist Jewish powers-that-be, more than to trust in God, Islam and their fellow Muslims," he said.

Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said that Malaysia was not concerned with Hadi's links to IUMS.

“As far as Malaysia is concerned, there is no threat from his (Hadi’s) involvement in the group,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.
