Number of flood evacuees in K'tan increases to 1,078

The number of flood victims in Kelantan increased to 1,078 people at 9pm today, from 834 people at 5pm.

All of them are being provided temporary shelter at 23 relief shelters in seven districts, namely Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, Machang and Bachok.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s infobanjir application, in Kota Bharu, there are 429 evacuees from 108 families, with 154 of them (involving 35 families) at the relief centre at Islamic Outreach Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) Kok Lanas, while the others are at Dewan Orang Ramai Pasar Melor (81 people from 23 families), SK Sri Ketereh (180 people from 46 families) and SK Buloh Poh (14 people from four families).

In Pasir Mas, 194 people from 58 families have been evacuated to eight relief centres, namely at Madrasah Haji Daud (42 people from 13 families), SK Bukit Jarum (55 people from 14 families), Masjid Chasi (10 people from three families), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kangkong (eight people from two families), Masjid Rong Chenok (17 people from five families), Madrasah Sungai Keladi (a family a five people), SK Sri Kiambang (37 people from 14 families) and SK Kubang Kual (20 people from six families).

In Tanah Merah, 131 people have been evacuated to five relief centres, involving SK Kelewek (39 people from nine families), Madrasah Padang Kijang (44 people from 12 families), SK Alor Pasir (33 people from 10 families), Balai Raya Bukit Kechik (a family of eight people) and SK Bukit Panau (seven people from one family).

In Pasir Puteh pula, there are 258 evacuees at three relief centres, with 82 of them, involving 27 families at SK Kamil 1, and others at SK Changgai (152 people from 49 families) and SK Wakaf Raja (24 people from five families).

In Kuala Krai, six people from two families have been evacuated to SK Chenulang, while in Machang, eight people from two families were evacuated to SK Pangkal Meleret and in Bachok, 52 people from 11 families were evacuated to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Pak Badol.

Meanwhile, the Drainage and Irrigation Department portal at infobanjir.water.gov.my stated that Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, has exceeded the danger level of 9m, with a reading of 9.68m, from 9.52m at 5pm.
