The MACC is expected to arrest another relative of Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali soon, according to Utusan Malaysia.

Citing sources, the report claimed that the person was a middleman for government contracts.

The source also told the Umno-owned daily that the person lived a life of luxury despite operating a small-scale business.

"However, detailed investigations are still ongoing to verify the legitimacy of the allegation against the individual and how far the person was involved in government projects since 2014," the source reportedly said.

Last Thursday, four individuals, including Azmin's nephew, was arrested by the MACC in relation to investigations on mining activities in the state.

Azmin has claimed that the arrest was a political conspiracy against the Pakatan Harapan state government ahead of the general election.

He pointed out that some pro-Umno bloggers had forewarned of the arrests even before it took place.

Yesterday, MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad said that he does not receive instructions from the country's political leaders to act against a person or otherwise.

"Since Aug 1, 2016 until today, Dec 4, 2017, I want to state here – listen carefully – the prime minister of Malaysia has never ever given any instruction to not take action or to take action against anyone, never.

"But what you have heard on social media is that it is as if the MACC is being controlled by the country's leaders to follow their instructions,” he added.
