State BN chairperson Teng Chang Yeow must explain why his figure for land sold in Penang differs by more than 1,000 hectares from the official data provided by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, the DAP Youth wing said.

The wing's Penang publicity secretary Wong Yuen Harng said official data states that the current administration has only sold 43ha of land during its tenure since 2008, and that BN had sold 1,464.4ha during its rule.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Teng alleged that Lim had made a "jumbo land sale", that he had sold 2,178ha of land since 2008, compared with BN's sale of 1,074ha of land during its 40-year rule.

"Teng should explain why there is a huge difference between the official data and the data that he provided," Wong, a Penang Island City councillor, said in a statement issued today.

"Where did Teng get his data from? Why do both (the official and Teng's) data have such a huge difference? This gives rise to doubts over Teng's data."

In his official data, Lim also accused Gerakan of selling off land at RM1 per sq ft, RM3.24 psf, RM8 psf and RM20 psf.

Wong asked Teng to clarify his data and said he was giving the Gerakan leader a second chance to come clean on the matter.

Teng had also said that 204 low-medium cost (LMC) housing units can be built on 0.68ha of land.

"Going by his calculation, we can say that BN should have built 300,000 to 400,000 units of LMC, based on the amount of land that had been sold during its tenure," Wong said.

"But how many units of LMC did BN build? Where are the PR1MA affordable housing units it promised to build? No one knows where the location is," Wong added.

Based on Teng's calculation, he said, the current Pakatan Harapan government has to build 12,000 units of housing.

But Harapan has actually provided more than 48,000 units in Penang in the past 10 years, he said.

"This is four times the figure Teng provided with his calculation."
