Spotlight on Hadi's ‘Muslim-only cabinet’

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng criticised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for purportedly proposing a Malay-Muslim-only cabinet. 

DAP's Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said the proposal went against the intentions of the country's founding fathers, with cabinets being multicultural since independence.

PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan defended the proposal, stating that it was not absolute, and that Hadi was only referring to certain cabinet posts being reserved for Malay-Muslims.

The party's elected representatives in Selangor remain loyal to Hadi, insisted state PAS leader Iskandar Abdul Samad, amid rumours of a defection to PKR.

Johari rebuts Dr M on forex 'gambling'

Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani rebutted former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's remark about Bank Negara Malaysia using its foreign reserves to prop up the ringgit, stating that it was different from "gambling’ in the foreign exchange market. 

Beijing-based magazine Caixin said China's national rail operator is putting together the country's largest railway team, comprising six companies and a bank, to bid for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Maximus Ongkili said the electricity tariff for Peninsular Malaysia will be maintained until 2020. 

Nik Nazmi wins suit against former AG

Selangor exco Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad won a suit against former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail for malicious prosecution and was awarded RM240,000 in damages and costs.

Police said organisers of the planned "Turun Harga Minyak, Turun Najib" rally must seek permission from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to use Dataran Merdeka as its venue.
