Bersatu member wants Mahathir to step down

The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has been urged to conduct detailed investigations on the first annual general assembly of Bersatu which was held last Saturday, as it was allegedly not held according to the party’s constitution.

Temerloh Bersatu division chief Amerus Che Onn said the AGM on Saturday was seen as self-serving event as it was only fighting for the interest of a certain individual, and there were no initiatives to resolve the crisis in the party itself.

“Delegates to the AGM were not elected according to the party’s constitution. There were no assemblies at branch and division levels to elect delegates to attend the first AGM. Apart from that, the assembly for youth and women’s wings were also not held.

“I felt cheated and played out. That is why I am calling on the ROS to investigate the matter,” he told reporters after lodging a report at ROS here today.

Last Saturday, Bersatu held its first AGM which was attended by 941 delegates from 137 divisions at the Ideal Convention Centre in Shah Alam after being given warning by ROS.

Amerus said the first AGM only focused on a certain leader, while the delegates were not given the right to voice their views.

“There are no real objectives of Bersatu as the top leadership was only struggling for the interest of a certain individual while internal issues were not resolved.

In this regard, Amerus called on Dr Mahathir Mohamad to resign as Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan chairperson, as he was only fighting for his personal interest.

Earlier, ROS had warned Bersatu of three offences namely not hold the annual general meeting, setting up the Youth wing and postponing the AGM not according to the provision of the party’s constitution which could cause the party to be de-registered.
