Floods situation in Pahang worsens, evacuees now number 4,851

The number of flood evacuees in Pahang has more than doubled with 4,851 people in shelters as at 7pm as compared to 2,061 people at midday.

According to the Welfare Department’s InfoBanjir portal, besides Kuantan, Rompin and Pekan, Maran and Jerantut have also been hit by floods.

Seventy-two people have been evacuated to two shelters in Maran while in Jerantut, 19 people have been moved to two shelters.

Kuantan is still the worst hit district with 3,931 in 22 flood relief centres, followed by Rompin which has 644 people in nine FRCs. while 204 people are being sheltered at one FRC in Pekan.

In Terengganu, 329 evacuees from 109 families are still at shelters, in Dungun (252 people from 92 families in two shelters) and Kemaman ( 77 people/ 17 families/ four shelters), as at 8pm.

It was a slight improvement as compared to the 333 victims from 110 families at the said shelters at 8am.

Meanwhile, it was reported that one school will still remain closed tomorrow due to the floods, namely SK Pasir Gajah in Kemaman

In Johor, the number of flood evacuees in Mersing rose slightly to 380 people as at 6 pm as compared to 371 people at midday.

The victims from 105 families are at six shelters.

In Sabah. the number of evacuees in Membakut rose to 120 people as compared to 118 people at 5.30pm.

The victims, from 14 villages, are being sheltered at two FRCs.
