Th victim of a robbery who fought back and caused the death of the perpetrator was detained to facilitate investigations into the case which happened in Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram in Johor, yesterday.

Johor Bahru South police chief ACP Shahurinain Jais in a statement said the 32-year-old victim was being investigated under the Criminal Procedure Code and had been placed on remand until Jan 10.

The drama unfolded when the suspect broke into the victim’s home but as he was trying to escape with the loot, the victim grabbed a 22-cm long knife and stabbed him in the back of the neck, severing his jugular artery.

During the scuffle, the victim was also injured and received eight stitches in the head at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.

The case has been classified as murder.
