Saudi visit enhances bilateral ties, says PM

Prime Minister Najib Razak said his visit to Saudi Arabia has met its objective and enhanced bilateral ties between both countries.

The prime minister said he and King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud discussed matters agreed during the latter’s visit to Malaysia last year.

"Among them are economic cooperation, security, matters relating to haj pilgrimage and the setting up of King Salman Centre for International Peace in Putrajaya.

"The long established ties between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia are enhanced with the visit of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, to Malaysia last year, his first visit to Asia. "

Najib said King Salman's visit to Malaysia had brought many benefits in education, business, investment, and religious affairs.

"At the same time, King Salman also invited me to visit Saudi Arabia. Alhamdulillah, I have the opportunity to perform the umrah with mum Tun Rahah and beloved family," he said in his blog last night.

Najib expressed his gratitude to King Salman for the special treatment and status of national guest accorded to him and his entourage.

"We were given the honour to visit the tomb of Prophet Muhammad and also have the opportunity to enter the Kaabah. Hopefully this brotherly ties will become stronger in future, InsyaAllah," he added.
