Seniman prepared to help Farid Kamil in various aspects
The Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman) is prepared to help actor Farid Kamil Zahari in various aspects, including providing him with counselling service, if necessary.
Seniman secretary-general Hafiz Nafiah said the association would also like to call on all quarters to stop making speculations on the detention of the actor for allegedly slapping a policeman and kicking two civilians at the Kota Damansara police station last Thursday.
“Let the authority investigate the case. We should also respect and give some space for his family to deal with the situation,” he said in a statement in Kuala Lumpur today.
Farid’s four-day remand was extended for another day today.
Meanwhile, Hafiz said Seniman would also carry out a detailed probe into the allegation of various problems faced by local artistes during filming, including unfair treatment and excessive working hours imposed by production companies.
He said the association was also in the midst of formulating a guideline relating to job specifications of artistes in a bid to uplift their professionalism in accordance with the rights of workers in the creative industry.
“We will announce the guideline soon and we hope it will be adopted by all production companies and other players in the national creative industry,” he added.
