Yoursay: Why MACC acts fast when it comes to Harapan states?

YOURSAY | ‘Against the Umnoputra-led entities, MACC only dares to tiptoe on the fringes.’

Two with 'Datuk' titles arrested over undersea tunnel project

Headhunter: MACC, why so efficient and fast when it comes to opposition-led Penang but then you “ding-dong” (delay) over 1MDB and other corruption cases under BN, even when the evidence stares you in the eyes?

Simple Malaysian: I do not trust in the impartiality of MACC. Watch the speed of this investigation. Expect it to be faster than the progress of its investigations on Felda.

In fact, in Felda’s case, the main suspect (former chairperson Isa Samad) was even allowed to fly out of the country. Until now, he is just being questioned to "assist" in investigations.

Whereas in this case, the alleged suspects have already been arrested. The government is trying to fool the rakyat, even though the project has yet to take off.

NNFC: Again, we note that MACC is trying to get folks into implicating the opposition. We also can see that Isa was graciously invited to give a statement, while these Datuks were arrested.

On the Other Hand: No arrests in the cases of the Felda land and Mara property scandals? Not even a remand order? No handcuffs in sight, and the luxury of the key suspect being allowed to choose his own time to come in for questioning.

HaveAGreatDay: It is actions like these against the opposition-led states that make the MACC contemptible and unworthy in the eyes of the thinking rakyat.

Against the Umnoputra-led entities, MACC only dares to tiptoe on the fringes.

Mosquitobrain: MACC can go ahead and charge these 'Datuks', but don't simply make life difficult for everyone.

If MACC is independent, it should work without fear and favour, which means it should also look into the RM55 billion East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project too.

All this MACC nonsense will only stop when Harapan takes over Putrajaya after GE14.

Negaraku: Unbelievable that there are some opposition supporters who don't want the MACC to investigate a project in which money was paid, yet no reports were given over the years, then no work was started and yet land as payment is given in full and they start selling it.

Despite all of this, you all feel that there is no corruption going on? Why? Because it is the opposition?

Felda, Mara and many more were investigated, and the probes are not over, so MACC has no issues with either side, it’s just doing its job.

Strange that people seem to be more concerned about the MACC chief’s personal life when it’s not a crime.

Mano: Good. If any hanky-panky did happen, please take action, even if they are 'Datuks'. Weed them out before the general election (GE14). Also, do the same for all the rest that have been reported: Felda, Mara and others.

But if MACC does not do so, it is also good for the opposition because Harapan can show the kampung folk how “efficient” MACC is with alleged corruption among Harapan leaders compared to alleged corruption among BN politicians.

Tunnel project: Major raid by MACC in Penang

Behsaikong: MACC should publish a complete record of all such raids it has conducted throughout the entire nation in recent years, methods used and the findings/outcomes of all such investigations. In every state, as well as at the national level.

This will help us - the Malaysian public - to know whether or not MACC has been politically neutral and has gone after all suspicious deals.

Do this so that we the citizens will applaud the fair and even-handed work of MACC.

Vgeorgemy: MACC doesn’t even have the capability to investigate simple cases like 1MDB and SRC International, but now it wants to investigate the matters relating to the undersea tunnel in Penang.

It is alleged that the action is only to assist someone higher up for the contract bidding. Okay, we know now that it is only your political game of you-scratch-my-back-I-will-scratch-yours ‘sandiwara’ (play acting).

MACC must go back to its original constitutional role of investigating corruption matters.

Mosquitobrain: Wow! Suddenly MACC is very fast, prompt and efficient. But deputy chief of MACC Adam Baki, do us a small favour.

We're anxious to know the outcome from your investigations of RM2.6 billion related to 1MDB and SRC International’s RM42 million found in Prime Minister Najib Razak aka MO1’s personal bank accounts.

Ferdtan: To the public, these MACC raids are mere posturing to paint the Penang government as bad when the general election draws near. It is hoped that such negative publicity would make Malaysians wary of the Harapan government.

However, MACC's credibility had been dented, so who is going to believe them, anyway? Why the urgency? Have they any evidence or is it that what they have are only allegations from the BN politicians?

Thus, with this sorry state of affairs in MACC, how can we trust this institution to do an independent job against the opposition?

Anonymous #19098644: This is a politically motivated and blatant misuse of state institutions to persecute the opposition. Due to their incompetence, the BN state government under Gerakan was never able to visualise, propose or fund the project.

Meanwhile, the DAP-led Harapan government, in spite of obstacles, including a complete lack of support from the federal government, used the land reclamation process to allow it to propose and start the process of getting approval and implementing this massive project.

Anonymous_1419577444: A bad strategy by BN. They do not seem to realise they are dealing with Penangites. Such underhanded tactics will just make Penangites support Harapan more.
