Police detained four teenage boys for allegedly modifying their bicycles and riding them in a dangerous manner in a housing area at Persiaran Meranti Sri Damansara 13, near the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the boys, aged between 14 and 15, were detained by the Petaling Jaya Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Division in an operation conducted at 3pm.

The operation was conducted following information from the public, he said when contacted by Bernama.

Following which, the boys were issued summonses under Rule 42 (1) (a) LN 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 for riding their bicycles which had no brake or bell, he said.

He said police seized the bicycles and also recorded the boys’ statements and also that of their guardians.
