Assistant director among four individuals remanded for corruption

Four individuals, including a deputy director of a government department, are on remand for seven days from today for investigations into alleged misappropriation of a transport infrastructure project in Sabah.

The three others included an assistant engineer at a government department and a company director.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Cindy Mc Balitus at the Kota Kinabalu Magistrate's Court following an application by the MACC, represented by its prosecuting officer Faliq Basirudin.

The four individuals, aged between 37 and 58, were detained by MACC yesterday for investigation under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.

Following their arrest, the commission also seized several vehicles, a certain amount of cash and froze several bank accounts.
