The number of flood victims in Sarawak has risen to 3,435 from 981 families, housed at 22 relief centres as of 8pm today.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak State Disaster Management Secretariat said out of the total, 1,831 people from 516 families from Samarahan were being housed at nine relief centres, 1,179 people from 332 families from Serian in nine relief centres, while the number of evacuees in Mukah remained at 242 from 73 families, housed in three relief centres.

In comparison there were 1,818 evacuees from 506 families in Samarahan, and 1,171 people from 329 families from Serian as of 5pm today.

The latest relief centre to be opened at 4.30 pm is at Bintulu Civic Centre which housed 183 evacuees from 60 families.
