Salor assemblyperson Husam Musa and former Kota Bharu MP Wan Abd Rahim Wan Abdullah have been stripped of their datukship, effective yesterday.

In a joint statement today, Husam and Wan Abdu Rahim said they were informed by letters from the Kelantan state secretary yesterday evening that Sultan Muhammad V had consented to the revocation of state honours conferred to them.

As such, they said, they have returned their Darjah Kebesaran Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (Al-Ismaili II) (DJMK) insignia and appointment letters to the palace this morning, as decreed.

“We wish to take this opportunity to thank His Majesty and reiterate our undivided loyalty towards His Majesty Sultan Muhamad V,” the two of them said.

A check on the Protocol and International Conference Secretariat’s website showed that Husam was conferred the DJMK in 2006, when he was a Kelantan state executive councillor, whereas Wan Abd Rahim was conferred the same award in 2004 when he was the Kelantan state assembly speaker.

Neither of the two holds any other state or federal honours.
