INTERVIEW | PAS members who refuse to vote for PAS are unworthy to be in the party, said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

However, the Marang MP believes that his current party members will be loyal the party.

"PAS members are loyal to the party. They must be loyal to the party. If they are not, then they are not worthy of being PAS members.

"PAS members will support and vote for PAS," Hadi told Malaysiakini in an interview at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

He said this when asked to respond to the move by Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar, who quit PAS in December last year, after 34 years with the Islamic party.

Mahfuz had claimed that even though disgruntled PAS members would remain in the party, they were most likely to vote for Pakatan Harapan in the coming general election.

Several top leaders had quit PAS in 2015 over disagreements on the party's direction.

They then formed the splinter party, Amanah, which is now a component of opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan, the successor of Pakatan Rakyat in which PAS was a member.

PAS plans to act as the third force in the 14th general election, which is due this year, after having formed its own coalition called Gagasan Sejahtera.
