JAKARTA (AFP) - Indonesian prosecutors on today sought 10-year jail sentences for two men accused of involvement in last year's grenade blast at the Malaysian embassy.

Evidence shows that Iswadi Jamil and Lance Corporal Ibrahim Hasan, both aged 30, played a role in the blast at the embassy parking lot last August, chief prosecutor Solaiman Hadjarati told the trial at the South Jakarta district court.

Hasan has been missing since he escaped in July from Cipinang prison and is being tried in his absence.

Hadjarati said Jamil had given the grenade which he brought from Bandung to Hasan, who later handed it to other suspects to be thrown at the embassy.

No one was was injured in the embassy blast, one of a series of explosions that have rocked the country in the past year.

Last week prosecutors at the same trial sought a 24-year jail sentence for Iwan Setiawan, the main suspect, and a 14-year term for two other defendants.
