The government has strengthened security at foreign embassies and favourite tourist destinations nationwide following the weekend suicide blasts in neighbouring Indonesia, police said today.

"We are taking precautions to prevent a similar incident occurring here," said deputy police chief Musa Hassan, quoted by the official Bernama news agency.

Musa said police would also strengthen the exchange of intelligence with Indonesia as part of efforts to track down two Malaysians suspected of masterminding Saturday's blasts in Bali island which killed 19 people plus the three attackers.

M'sians blamed

"Investigations are ongoing and we are confident of tracking them down," Musa was quoted as saying.

Indonesian officials have said the blasts bore the hallmarks of Malaysians Azahari Husin and Noordin Mohammad Top of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI).

British-trained engineer Azahari and Noordin are believed to have played key roles in previous deadly attacks in Indonesia.
