Cops to monitor security at 15 hotspots in Pahang during GE14

Pahang police have identified 15 hotspots throughout the state which are expected to cause a furore during the 14th general elections.

Pahang police chief Rosli Ab Rahman said intelligence had also detected several groups capable of causing commotion and disorder during the period.

“We have identified the groups and the hot spots based on polling factors as well as fierce competition between the contesting parties, but I do not want to specify so as not to give rise to negative perceptions and concerns among local residents.

“Police will closely monitor the affected areas from now until the polls to ensure that the election in the state can be held safely without any untoward incident,” he said after witnessing General Election Simulation Exercise Series 2 Phase 2 at Bukit Galing Camp in Kuantan today.

Also held today were riot handling simulation exercises near Wisma Sri Pahang, with 310 officers and police personnel including members from the General Operations Force, Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Force participating.

Police in collaboration with other enforcement agencies had conducted 67 exercises throughout Pahang since yesterday, he added.
