BN strategic communication deputy director Eric See-To has accused Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng of “arrogance and cowardice.”
This is after Guan Eng, who is also DAP secretary-general, dismissed MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong's challenge to a public debate on the Penang undersea tunnel issue.
Guan Eng had argued that Wee was unqualified given his number two position, and only MCA president Liow Tiong Lai could challenge him to a debate.
However, See-To argued that in DAP, it was Guan Eng's father, Kit Siang, who is the head honcho.
“Guan Eng should realise that his father Kit Siang is the undisputed de facto leader of DAP, therefore he is number one - not him.
“It is debatable if Guan Eng would ever have reached such a position in DAP if his father was not the leader of DAP for so many decades,” he added in a media statement.
See-To also pointed to another remark by Guan Eng (photo) in rejecting Wee's challenge that he was the top leader of a party that won 38 parliamentary seats in the last general election, whereas the latter was number two in a party that won only seven.
“This excuse from Guan Eng also shows that DAP has been corrupted by power and chooses to hide behind popular support whenever they have been called to explain their scandals and wrongdoings, despite at least six persons already arrested and remanded by MACC over the Penang tunnel scandal,” said the BN man.
See-To warned DAP against taking the public's popular support for granted.
“What has DAP's popular support got to do with the Penang Tunnel corruption and wrongdoing?” he asked.
Apart from stating that only the MCA president was qualified to dare him to a debate, Lim also said if the pair does lock horns, it should also include the 1MDB scandal.
