MB: Pahang BN working 'as a family,' confident of retaining state

Pahang BN is optimistic of a comfortable victory in the 14th general election based on efforts made on the principle of cooperation among component parties.

Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob said the collaborative approach taken by Pahang BN, including the “Get Out the Voters” programme, grabbed the attention of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during his recent visit here.

He said Zahid at the time described Pahang BN's approach as the best among the 10 states he had visited.

"What's happening in Pahang is that we are not working as a team, but as a family. There is no problem between the liaison chairperson and others.

"There is no one trying to show their authority or power... all work like siblings, and that's our strength," he told reporters after his official visit to the Kuantan Air Base today.

Also present were air base commander Wan Amin Wan Mahmud, state secretary Muhammad Safian Ismail and state executive council members.

Adnan said, among the issues being emphasised in Pahang was the rising price of goods, where the Pahang BN ensured that the people understood the government's efforts to overcome it.

He said it was up to the people to evaluate the information they received and hoped they were not easily deceived by inaccurate and defamatory news, although it might be more “interesting” to listen to.

"This is something that is not nice, as we seem to be going backwards when we believe in things that are not true. The people need to be wise, and verify the news they hear before making a decision," he noted.

Commenting on the visit, Adnan said it was part of the state government's efforts to strengthen ties with various agencies and departments in Pahang, besides having the opportunity to hear their problems.

"I also approved an allocation of RM30,000 for the Kuantan Royal Malaysian Air Force Fund and RM5,000 for a kindergarten teacher here whose house was destroyed in a fire," he said.
