The Malaysian Dayak Congress (MDC) is getting impatient with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) for failing to decide on their application months after it was submitted.

"While some people need only a short time to register their parties, it appears that our application will take more than the department's Client Charter of four months," said MDS pro tem information chief Joseph Tawie, in reference to the speedy approvals given to the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), who have both joined the BN fold.

MDS application was submitted to the ROS on May 6,2005 and is said to have been cleared by the police.

Partyless members

Tawie suspect that the ROS will only announce the decision after the state elections, widely expected in December.

At present, supporters of MDC pro tem president and his deputy Nicholas Bawin and Dr Johnichal Rayong who are mostly members of the defunct Parti Bangsa Dayak Sarawak remain 'partyless' due to the delay in approval.

Tawie believes that the certain quarters are influencing the ROS to drag their feet.

Previously, several state BN leaders told the public that the MDC would cause a 'spilt' amongst the Dayak community.

"Putting the blame on a party that has not existed yet is beyond the comprehension even of ordinary men," asserted Tawie.
