PAS central committee member Mohd Suhaimi Embong has offered former Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah to contest under the Gagasan Sejahtera, a coalition led by PAS.

Suhaimi made the offer after noting that she was facing challenges in securing a seat from another opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan.

"Harapan is dilly-dallying... but for Gagasan Sejahtera, we will allow her to contest," he said during a PAS event in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur today.

Speaking to journalists later, Suhaimi (right in photo) said PAS was prepared to discuss the terms with Maria if she was willing to contest under Gagasan Sejahtera.

"We will also offer seats to other NGOs... PAS is open, PAS is always open," he said.

Likewise, Suhaimi said PAS was also prepared to offer a seat to former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who was sacked from PKR.

Maria formally resigned as Bersihchairperson on March 6. 

She is seeking to contest a parliamentary seat so as to offer representation to the civil society in the Dewan Rakyat.

Maria does not intend to join any political party but is in talks with Harapan to offer her a seat.

However, PKR had insisted that she first join the party, but had indicated that they were willing to talk even if she refuses.
