Feds were worried about MO1's wife

A programme on American news network MSNBC claimed federal agents were worried that the wife of Malaysian Official 1 would, during a visit to the United States last year, wear jewellery listed by the US Department of Justice as having been acquired with funds misappropriated from 1MDB.

The report also highlighted an ally of US President Donald Trump trying to solicit US$75 million from Malaysian businessperson Jho Low to stop the DOJ investigation into 1MDB.

PKR communications chief Fahmi Fadzil challenged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to sue MSNBC over the reports on 1MDB.

Indonesia's leading current affairs magazine, Tempo, also featured Low and the 1MDB scandal.

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari claimed that news portals were spreading "fake news" against 1MDB and warned that action would be taken.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang appealed to Swiss MPs to repatriate the RM430 million 1MDB-linked funds seized by the Swiss government.

Harapan pulls crowds in Penang, K'tan

More than 10,000 people thronged Pakatan Harapan's celebration of the Penang government's 10-year rule.

Harapan also announced the resolution of seat negotiations for the coming general election in Penang, with PKR and Amanah ceding four seats in total to Bersatu.

In Kelantan, a PAS stronghold, some 8,000 people also turned up at a Harapan ceramah where former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad spoke.

Mahathir criticised tone-deaf statements by Umno ministers about economic hardship, stating that their statements were "more stupid" than those made by ministers when he was the prime minister.

Bersatu gets a new recruit

Prominent academician Maszlee Malik is set to join Bersatu.

PAS offered former Bersih chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah a seat to contest in the next general election.

Umno president Najib Abdul Razak criticised Harapan's manifesto promising to abolish the GST, stating that it would leave the country with a gaping deficit.

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein also attacked Harapan's manifesto, stressing that BN is the best choice for security.

Bersatu strategy and policy deputy bureau chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan questioned why BN was only focused on GST and did not address other key promises in Harapan's manifesto, particularly on political reforms that the BN had long resisted.

The Penang Chief Minister's Office decried a "smear attempt" against Lim Guan Eng over his photograph with a man who was arrested by the MACC over the state's tunnel project.

BN strategic communications director Eric See-To said there was no need for Lim to threaten to sue over the photograph as it was a legitimate question.
