In a tit-for-tat move, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today revealed a photo depicting the top editor of an MCA-owned newspaper posing for a photograph with a businessperson who is being probed by the MACC.

This was in response to BN figures seeking Lim's explanation over a photograph depicting him posing with the same suspect.

At a press conference in Komtar today, Lim showed the media a photograph of Star Media Group CEO Wong Chun Wai shaking hands with the suspect and an unidentified person.

"The businessperson (probed by MACC) is a BN strongman," said Lim.

"I don't want to play politics, to show a photo of the businessperson with BN ministers but I am not going to do that.

"Now I want to show a photo of an MCA supporter with the businessperson, I am not making allegations but just want to show him (MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong) this photo."

The businessperson, who has a "Dato Seri" title, was remanded for a week and later released for allegedly receiving RM19 million from the Penang undersea tunnel contractor Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd.

Following this, several BN figures, include Wee and BN strategic communications deputy director Eric See-To had exposed a photograph of Lim posing with the suspect.

At the time, Lim had described the attempt to link him with someone wanted by the MACC as a "disgusting smear attempt".

On Feb 24, Zenith had sent letters of demand to Umno Baling MP Azeez Abdul Rahim and the businessperson for allegedly failing to honour their contract to carry out consultancy work involving the tunnel.

Azeez had denied receiving the RM3 million stated in the letter of demand, and is currently suing Lim for asking the MACC to probe and arrest the Tabung Haji chairperson.

Wong had responded to Lim by saying that the photo with the businessperson was taken at a public event last year.
