Works Minister S Samy Vellu today told his detractors to file a report with the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) if they have any information about him buying a bungalow.

Samy Vellu today denied that he had purchased a bungalow at No 2, Jalan Sungkai off Jalan Ipoh near the proposed Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (Duke).

The allegation came from Tan Kok Wai (DAP-Cheras), who asked the minister in the Dewan Rakyat, if he had purchased the house close to the expressway, which will be built by Konsortium Lebuhraya Utara-Timur (KL) Sdn Bhd (Kesturi).

Explaining, Samy Vellu, who is also MIC president, said he had built a house at No 19, about one kilometre from the expressway, through a government loan and occupied it with his family members.

"If anyone has information (on the allegation) go to the ACA (Anti-Corruption Agency)," he was quoted as saying by Bernama .

Compensation paid

Replying to Tan's query on the 18km expressway, the minister said the cabinet had approved the project.

On the compensation paid to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to relocate its high tension cable towers to make way for the project, he said the concessionaire had made the payment to TNB.

Samy Vellu also said all federal and state roads were designed according to standards specified by the Public Works Department (PWD).

In an unrelated development, MCA Youth wants to hold a dialogue with the Kelantan PAS government on the state capital Kota Baru being declared an Islamic city.

Deputy MCA Youth chief Ling Hee Leong said the wing will study if the declaration will affect the Chinese community there.

According to Sin Chew Daily , he said this at a dialogue in Kota Baru over the weekend.

On the same note, he said there have been no complaints about the issue from the Chinese community there so far.
