Jordan's King Abdullah II is set to leave Tuesday on a tour of Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan that will focus on the war against terrorism and extremism, the royal palace said.

During the three-day trip, he will discuss with leaders in the three predominantly Muslim countries "coordinating efforts toward a true Islam in the face of terrorism and extremism," a statement said.

Talks will also focus on political developments and other issues facing the Arab and Muslim worlds.

Violates Islamic spirit

In July, Jordan hosted a meeting of Muslim experts and religious leaders, which issued a statement banning murder in the name of Islam and urging respect for others' opinions.

Abdullah condemned religious extremism, which he said sullied the image of Islam, and called for Muslim countries to harmonise their schools of jurisprudence.

"Divisions within the global Islamic community, acts of violence and terrorism and accusations of apostasy and the killing of Muslims in the name of Islam violate the spirit of Islam," he said.
