Penang-born businessperson Jho Low and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's stepson Riza Aziz have never declared their incomes in Malaysia, said Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani.

He also told the Dewan Rakyat that the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has no records regarding the duo.

“According to our tax files, there are no such names, because they never declared their income in this country,” he added.

Johari was responding to a question from Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) regarding Low, and Riza who have been implicated in the 1MDB scandal.

The minister said if the duo declared their income, then the government would act to tax them as it does other businesspersons.

To another question from Tian Chua (PKR-Batu) about the IRB allegedly practising double standards in pursuing its targets, Johari said: "The IRB does not care who the person is, as long as there is income in Malaysia, the company is registered here and there is revenue. If you don't pay, IRB will come after you.

“If not today, perhaps tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the following day. If not this year, next year, “ he added.

He urged Tian Chua to tip him off if he knew of any profit-making company which are defaulting on taxes. 

"If you drive a Ferrari, and find you don't have a tax file, they (IRB) will ask, they will investigate. 

"If the car belongs to a company, they will check the company's files, if it is paying corporate taxes or not. 

"My point is, regardless of whether you are the PM or the second finance minister, if you have an income in Malaysia, you will be taxed," he stressed.
