A woman with the honorific Datin title and her bailor, who is a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) official, failed to turn up at the Shah Alam High Court this morning, according to The Star.

Following this, the court fixed March 29 to hear an application for a review of the sentence meted against Rozita Mohamad Ali.

The Datin was charged with causing grievous hurt to her Indonesian maid.

Justice Tun Abd Majid Tun Hamzah fixed the date after Selangor prosecution director Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad informed the court that Rozita and her bailor could not be contacted.

According to DPP Muhammad Iskandar, an attempt to serve them with a notice failed as Rozita was not at her house in Damansara and her family home in Malacca while the bailor was missing as well.

He said attempts to serve the notice were made until late last night.

On March 15, Rozita was bound over for five years on a good behaviour bond of RM20,000 for causing grievous hurt to Suyanti Sutrinso, 21 (photo).

Judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar meted out the sentence against Rozita after she pleaded guilty to an amended charge under Section 326 of the Penal Code.

Rozita, 44, was charged with using among others, a kitchen knife, a mop and an umbrella to assault Suyanti at her home between 7am and 12pm on June 21, 2016.

Yesterday, it was reported that more than 40,000 people inked a petition for a stiffer sentence to be imposed after the Datin escaped jail time

On March 17, attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali reportedly confirmed that his office would challenge the court's decision with regard to the good behaviour bond.
