PM invokes PAC's 1MDB report; spotlight on anti-Dr M don

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

PAC did not implicate me, says Najib

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) did not implicate him in 1MDB related matters nor did the committee say the RM2.6 billion found in his bank account came from the troubled sovereign wealth fund.

Najib also claimed that the federal government had wanted to implement GST as far back as 1984 but didn't have the courage to do so due to "political costs".

Putrajaya also claimed that the various transformation programmes had delivered more than what was promised in 2010.

Among others, Putrajaya claimed that the tourism sector achieved 118 percent of its KPI, while crime was down by 53 percent since 2010.

Najib's wife Rosmah Mansor said she was all for Putrajaya's plans to enact an anti-fake news law.

Spotlight on anti-Dr M don

A video clip depicting Kamarul Zaman Yussof's discomfort after Dr Mahathir Mohamad gate crashed the Sinar Harian forum in Shah Alam yesterday has garnered more than two million views.

After torrents of brickbats, Kamarul, who was a panellist on the forum, said he was not intimidated by Mahathir nor tongue-tied.

Comedian and movie producer Adflin Shauki found the whole episode really funny and wrote about it on Instagram. Most of his followers appear to agree.

After enduring much online ridicule, Kuala Nerus MP Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali came to his fellow PAS member's aide, urging the public to look at the academic arguments presented by Kamarul.
