Yoursay: Wong just made voting imperative, come hell or high water

YOURSAY | ‘Wong Chin Huat is prepared to pay a price for freedom. We can at least vote.’

Redelineation: Analyst breaks embargo, claims 'disaster'

Ranjit Singh Malhi: I salute you, political analyst Wong Chin Huat. You are a courageous son of Malaysia for upholding truth and fair play.

May your brave actions spur other right-thinking Malaysians to do what is right to ensure the future well-being of Bangsa Malaysia.

I am reminded of Edmund Burke's famous quote: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

Have A Great Day: Yet, the important question is whether anything can be done to prevent the Election Commission (EC) stealing the coming polls for the Umnoputras?

P Dev Anand Pillai: The ruling coalition will be using all sorts of means to ensure victory, but we the people can defeat them by ensuring that we vote, vote and vote.

Please do it, if not for yourselves, at least for your children.

Note that the country is already in dire straits, so let us ensure that we all come out to vote, no matter where, just make the trip and do it.

Please be reminded that, you cannot simply knock on the doors of another country and asked to be allowed in, it is not that easy anymore.

This is our home, and we have got to keep it safe it from the crooks.

Chokstone: It looks like the kleptocrat can’t stop stealing. Now he’s gearing to steal an election. But how can the kleptocrat steal this without the support of a bunch of followers, pecking away loyally at the trail of chicken feed.

These people who have abused their high positions have taken the people's rights for granted, and they must believe that they will always be under the protection of their master.

The opposition coalition should publicly state that these power abusers will be charged and prosecuted in time. Make sure they know that they won't get away with their actions, which are tantamount to treason.

David Dass: Why the embargo in the first place? Whose decision was it that the EC report should be embargoed?

What security interest is required the embargo of the EC? If the redelineation were made available to the public, and they have filed objections, why are the contents of the report secret?

The EC redelineation is expected to be passed today. Can we expect Parliament to be dissolved after? Is victory in democratic parliamentary elections to be secured and won by restricting our freedoms?

Wong is prepared to pay a price for freedom. Surely, we can at least vote.

51 Kebabs: In sync with all the late 1980s nostalgia in popular culture, we have people in power forcing us to relive the period with their fake news law, and now this. It’s the era of the unopposed strongman.

I hate former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, let that be known. But in power, we have a prime minister who is pointing out Mahathir’s bad track record, and simultaneously replaying all his greatest hits.

I am not sure if the Freedom Fund still exists, but if it does, I will contribute what I can to reimburse Wong for his heroism. That, and making sure I vote, come hell or high water.

TC Chan: And so, the Economist and other foreign publications were spot on – the shamelessness and the criminal connivance of stealing the elections even before they are held.

A throwback to Ferdinand Marcos?

Single Malt: If you were in power what choice would you have? Play by the book, lose the election, and go to jail, or cheat and win the election at any cost?

Who cares about the rakyat and the country, as long you can remain in power and continue to bleed the country dry?

Ex-PJ: Do Malaysians have any remaining doubt this country is run by a criminal organisation intent on hanging on to power as long as they can? There should be a million protesters out in Kuala Lumpur against the government.

Turvy: The admiration for Wong is clouding the foreboding message he brings. If what he fears is correct, the elections are probably already lost. Time to give up.

Mosquito Brain: No, to counter EC's dirty tricks, all of us must exercise our rights not only to vote, but to vote wisely. Vote for a better Malaysia, a better future.

Anonymous 706151436780066: We will stand with Wong by helping him pay the fine of RM1,000. Please give us a bank account and we will contribute to his fine.

Kamaapo: People like PKR’s Rafizi Ramli and Wong are real patriots. Risking themselves for the general good of the rakyat and the country.

Perhaps soon this fine may be increased to RM50,000! And a jail term too.

Anonymous #97901717: Aren't MCA, Gerakan or MIC concerned that the flawed delineation has diluted the value of vote of their potential constituents?

They could have more seats if the delineation was done with a lower ratio of difference.

Yes, the opposition can get one seat combined, but if they split up, they might have a chance with others.

The Truth Please: As usual, MCA, Gerakan and MIC will keep silent and pretend everything is okay.

Tikus Mati: Any MP who votes in favour of the redelineation report is a traitor, plain and simple.
