The prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor today imparted her wisdom to a happy marriage, which she said was to keep her husband Najib Abdul Razak happy.

Keeping him happy, she added, was also necessary to ensure that he can perform his job well for the country.

“In my case, I make my husband happy and he is a happy man… As such, he can discharge his duties well to all of you out there and to Malaysia," she was quoted as saying by Bernama.

Rosmah said this in her speech when officiating a National Women's Day event organised by Pertubuhan Gerak Sakti 1Malaysia in Shah Alam, which was attended by some 3,000 Indian women.

Being the prime minister's wife, Rosmah said she also dealt with criticism and allegations against her with an open heart, stating that they were part and parcel of politics.

"In politics, we just have to go through it and smile, and that is the best medicine for them... When we smile (at them), they will get annoyed. If we get angry, they would love that,” she was quoted as saying.

Rosmah handed awards to three women at the event for excellence in their field.

She also stressed that the BN had never marginalised women in the country's development.

She added that Indian women had received various benefits through the Socioeconomic Development of Indian Community Unit (Sedic) and microcredit facility through Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia.

Also present at the event were Pertubuhan Gerak Sakti 1Malaysia chairperson Thanenthiran and his wife Vaney Thanenthiran, who leads the women's wing.
