Yoursay: Nazri, Annuar have grossly underestimated the Iron Lady

YOURSAY | ‘My respect meter for Rafidah just shot through the roof.’

Rafidah slams Nazri and Annuar, tells them to focus on issues

RR: People living in glass houses must not throw stones. Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz and Umno information chief Annuar Musa have grossly underestimated the “Iron Lady”, former international trade and industry minister Rafidah Aziz.

All this tirade in Umno is only confusing the poor Malays about a proper direction. Hope they have the conscience to know right from wrong in the 14th general election for the sake of the nation.

Anonymous 242641505703475: Three cheers to the Iron Lady, Rafidah Aziz! You have given a good piece of advice to the two chaps.

Yes, focus on the issues, not on the personalities. Bashing the billionaire Robert Kuok was one diversion, and it misfired. Like a boomerang, it flew back and hit the thrower. Now, the damage is done.

It is also too late to do damage control by attacking Rafidah and special adviser to the government Rais Yatim. They belong to the old school. They know what shame is.

The nation is being shamed in foreign nations because of alleged 1MDB-linked money laundering. If there is no wrongdoing, then do something to the US Department of Justice (DOJ), Singapore and Switzerland, to name a few.

Protect your good name and the name of the nation. Our nation's name is on the line. No red herring, please. People are not fools.

Rick Teo: Rafidah is right. Don’t be personal. Try to talk sensibly about issues. As for getting old, one day both Nazri and Annuar will also become old.

Just concentrate on the issues. Why are both of them seeming to ignore the big elephant in the room?

Rubystar_4037: Yes, good old Rafidah. While those in power in the government of the day rant and rant about fake news, Rafidah is still in her element, and she is genuine.

Atta Iron Lady. A lot of the rakyat are supporting you.

JayWai: My respect meter for Rafidah just shot through the roof. We appeal to all the past leaders of the country - please continue to speak up for the rakyat.

Speak up against a corrupt regime that's misusing all its resources to silence the people so that it stays in power.

6th Generation Immigrant: Bravo, Rafidah. Even if you were still a full-fledged member of Umno, which now I know you are no longer keen to maintain, this was what right-thinking Malaysians were expecting from our incumbent stalwarts - Liow Tiong Lai, Dr S Subramaniam, Mah Siew Keong, M Kayveas, etc.

Wg321: I really admire this Iron Lady. She was my lecturer in Malaysian Economy at Universiti Malaya in 1969.

Today, her mind is just as sharp as she was in 1969 when she was a young lecturer then. She hit the nail right on the head with these two ministers who have been talking nonsense.

Pakatan Harapan should invite her to be a speaker at their ceramah in the rural areas as she is a dynamic speaker.

Alichongavelu: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now leading the troops in the battlefield. Rafidah and Rais have stepped forward.

Everyone knows the country is now run by those who will do everything and anything to remain in power.

Where are the rest when the nation needs you most? Please step up and save the nation for the next generation.

Pusat Komas: Redelineation exercise a racial tragedy waiting to happen

David Dass: The effect of aggregating or packing the Chinese into Chinese-only constituencies is to reduce the value of their vote.

Chinese constituencies contain on the average double the number of people of Malay constituencies, according to one calculation. This effectively makes the Chinese vote half of what it should be.

This is wrong. How can it be legal and constitutional? Do Gerakan and MCA think it is okay because they would lose those constituencies anyway? These are short-term measures with long-term consequences.

Clever Voter: So the current administration thought the easiest way to remain in power is to redelineate electoral boundaries along racial lines on the basis of perceived loyalty.

Election Commission chairperson Mohd Hashim Abdullah could be right to say there is no guarantee of repeat voting pattern. The impact of Harapan component parties on rural constituencies remains to be seen.

All of this is expected, and opposition parties would have prepared for such eventualities. Malaysia’s electoral integrity is now almost on par with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Vietnam. These are consequences of unethical practices to protect self-interest, rather than public interest.

If voters behave as what the establishment expects, we can expect the nation to go downhill. With the Anti-Fake News Bill in place, we shall not know what's happening.

Perhaps there are things we would rather not know. But life is full of surprises, BN may not get everything it wants.

Mano: Pusat Komas, at least you give hope to the country that there are people who are sane and rational in our country.

Anonymous_1424529323: The sooner all wake up to the stark reality that "ketuanan" is here to stay, the better. It has just morphed from one based on ethnicity since the 60s to now closer to that of a mono-religion.

The wheels were set in motion 60 years ago and it is now systemic, affecting all aspects of society. Reversing this is virtually impossible even if a courageous government comes to power.

And that is not going to happen, not with the present coalitions on offer.

Anonymous 1802761448130592: UndiRosak, please help the rakyat. We cannot afford to spoil votes at this crucial juncture. Every vote counts.
