A proposal that the Orang Asli be given titles to their land will be submitted to the cabinet next week.
A proposal that the Orang Asli be given titles to their land will be submitted to the cabinet next week.
According to Rural and Regional Development Minister Abdul Aziz Samsuddin, he would propose that each Orang Asli family be given 8.4 hectares, a portion of which could be used to build their house.
The move, he told Bernama , would prevent encroachment on Orang Asli land by irresponsible quarters.
Aziz said that so far only Pahang had agreed to allocate 8.4 hectares to each Orang Asli family.
However, he said, the matter would be solved through discussions by the ministry with the relevant quarters, including the Tok Batin (Orang Asli chiefs) and the Orang Asli Association.
