Bersatu temporarily dissolved

Bersatu was temporarily dissolved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) for failing to submit some required documents.

ROS director-general Surayati Ibrahim said that the party risks permanent deregistration if it fails to comply with the ROS' requests within 30 days.

Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad pinned the blame for the dissolution on Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Former minister Rafidah Aziz described as " despicable" the ROS' act of slapping Bersatu with the temporary ban, just ahead of the 14th general election.

Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz downplayed Bersatu's deregistration, saying the fate of the "mosquito" party would not impact BN in any way.

Survey shows more want Dr M as PM than Najib

A survey by Selangor-based think tank Institut Darul Ehsan among almost 5,000 respondents showed that 61 percent preferred Mahathir as the prime minister again, as opposed to 39 percent who wanted Najib to remain.

The same study also showed that it would be hard for BN to capture Selangor, and that PAS would find it difficult to retain even one seat in the state.

Also, according to the survey, the influence of Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin is insufficient for the opposition to capture Johor.

DAP revealed that the party will not use its rocket logo for the coming general election in Peninsular Malaysia, and would instead opt for a common logo to be used by the Pakatan Harapan parties.

Mahathir is slated to announce the common logo at a mega ceramah in Pasir Gudang, Johor, today.

The Prisons Department has barred lawyer Latheefa Koya from meeting her client, de facto opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
