Yoursay: Redelineation, anti-fake news law, and now deregistration

YOURSAY | ‘Rafidah is right - Bersatu deregistration is an not act of a warrior.’

Fight like so-called 'warrior' – Rafidah censures Najib over Bersatu's status

Negarawan: Indeed, the conduct of the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has been nothing less than despicable.

ROS should be assisting any organisation that applies for registration. It should facilitate and expedite any application, instead of dragging its feet and impeding the registration process. That is the expected role and function of any registrar of society in any country.

The deregistration attempt on Bersatu showed every indication that ROS is completely subservient to the ruling political party and is being used as a political instrument against the opposition. This is totally unacceptable.

In fact, a similar situation in other countries would have triggered an uprising. Even if I am an Umno supporter, this despicable act itself would have been enough for me to leave Umno out of shame and disgust for the current leadership.

As former minister of international trade and industry Rafidah Aziz correctly pointed out, this is not an act of a "pendekar" (warrior) but that of a desperate coward.

Cogito Ergo Sum: Rafidah has nailed it! Democracy is dying and being killed off by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and co.

What a damning indictment of the current regime coming from one of the most respected trade ministers in not just the region, but the world.

Najib will not be able to respond to Rafidah’s apt description of events so far: “Despicable”. And you still want to vote for BN?

CQ MUARku: Dear Rafidah, this is the moment you need to show up, and stand up, to declare your full support. All efforts must be in place to stand united to bring down the present unfair, high-handed, undemocratic and rotten regime.

God willing, we must win or suffer a bleak future.

Sleepy: Deregistration, redelineation and anti-fake news law is an attack on everyone's democratic choices and rights, and therefore every voter must prevent such things happening through the ballot box.

Kader: A warrior would give his opponent an equal chance, the same fighting chances. He would not tie his adversary’s hand behind his back and trumpet he is a Bugis warrior.

Confirmed! ROS slaps Bersatu with provisional dissolution order

Anonymous 2478181499087834: We should respect the ROS’ decision.

Bersatu should henceforth add a sign saying "Deregistered" across all their promotional materials, banners, flags, et cetera, whether already printed or to be printed, that carry the Bersatu name and logo, to show their commitment that they really respect ROS’ decision.

Have it widely publicised. Likewise, a sign across Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s photograph that says, "Banned".

Clever Voter: No one in the right mind will want to break the rules. But when technical reasons are given, especially so in our political setting, one cannot help but feel foul play.

Bias and double standards are applied, giving rise to inconsistency and unfairness. When one has a ruling party not willing to play fair, and already advantaged in an uneven playing field, that tells you that there is real fear in the opposition winning.

The stakes are very high, for the ruling party. All government agencies are now part of BN. It's a scary thought which even justifies why change is absolutely necessary.

Mosquitobrain: Endless possibilities - Bersatu experienced AGM issues; Pakatan Harapan not allowed to use a common logo in GE14; Mahathir posters not allowed. It is like going into a boxing ring with both hands tied.

JusticeNow!: So Umno can violate its own constitution by not having branch elections, with seemingly retrospective approval given by ROS when the matter was highlighted, while Harapan and Bersatu cannot even be registered.

Indeed, it is now BN and the civil service versus the rakyat of Malaysia. Malaysians, you know what to do.

Someonroutthere: ROS is falling into a trap. Negative action towards the opposition is always seen as a bullying tactic used by BN to subdue them.

Whether fake or otherwise, it is a perceived conclusion made by the rakyat, and this will further drive votes to Harapan, perhaps in larger numbers.

See-To: The facts behind Bersatu's deregistration

MYOFB: I do think people in this comment section will do far better in not hurling abuse at BN Strategic Communications Department deputy director Eric See-To, but to address his claims point by point and showing up his false claims and contradictions.

Abuse never gets anybody anywhere. This is one of the many things that make this country poorer in the hands of a single-party dictatorship, of which See-To is one of its propaganda merchants.

The spin he puts out is pure nonsense. Rip apart his spin intelligently. You'll be doing Harapan a greater service this way by bringing more voters to its side.

Gotcha: See-To, please don't think the people are that silly and can easily be fooled by people like you.

Firstly, why has the ROS been sitting on Bersatu’s application for that long? Why did ROS wait so long until Harapan has to file a legal challenge?

Secondly, why wait till when the dissolution of Parliament is about to take place? Doesn't it seem as if this is depriving Harapan of its right to form a team to participate in GE14?
