GE14 | Several state governments have confirmed that they will confer with their respective rulers on the dissolution of their state legislative assemblies.

This followed Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s announcement earlier today that Parliament will be dissolved tomorrow.

In his announcement, Najib also urged state governments to confer with their rulers to dissolve their state assemblies, to pave way for simultaneous state and federal elections.

In a statement, SELANGOR Menteri Besar Mohd Azmin Ali said he is seeking an audience with Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on the matter.

Bernama quoted PERAK Menteri Besar Zambry Abd Kadir saying that he will have an audience with Perak's Sultan Nazrin Shah tomorrow morning to seek the dissolution of the Perak assembly on the same day.

Utusan Malaysia reported on its online site that KELANTAN Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob will depart from Kota Bahru to Kuala Lumpur this evening for an audience with Kelantan ruler Sultan Muhammad V, who is also the reigning Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Ahmad reportedly said the Kelantan state assembly will be dissolved simultaneously with the Parliament.

Meanwhile, in PENANG, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state assembly will only be dissolved next week. 

He said the state executive council meeting will be called one more time before seeking the consent from Penang governor Abdul Rahman Abbas for the dissolution. 

"It will definitely be next week. The announcement is nothing new, as it is expected, and we have instructed our election machinery to operate properly full time, from now on," he told reporters today. 

In JOHOR BAHRU, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor has given his consent for the state assembly to be dissolved tomorrow.

In a statement uploaded on the Sultan’s official Facebook moments ago, Sultan Ibrahim said he had signed the instrument of dissolution after granting an audience to Johor Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin at 4.15 pm at the Istana Pasir Pelangi.

Mohamed Khaled accompanied by State Secretary Azmi Rohani had sought the audience to get the ruler’s consent to dissolve the state assembly for the 14th general election.

In SEREMBAN, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan said Negeri Sembilan Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir has given his consent for dissolution of the state assembly tomorrow.

Speaking to reporters at Wisma Negeri, the menteri besar said he had an audience with Tuanku Muhriz at Istana Hinggap at 4.30 pm regarding the dissolution of the state assembly, reports Bernama.

The mandate of the current Negeri Sembilan government ends on June 17. Negeri Sembilan has eight parliamentary and 36 state seats.

The MELAKA state assembly will be dissolved tomorrow for the 14th general election,

Menteri Besar Idris Haron said had met with the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Dr Mohd Khalil Yaakob today to inform about the dissolution of the state assembly.

“The Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka (Mohd Khalil) has signed the declaration of dissolution to allow the 13th Melaka state assembly to be dissolved on April 7, 2018.

“The declaration of dissolution will be handed over to the state Election Commission at 9.30 am tomorrow, at Seri Bendahara (Ayer Keroh here)," he told a press conference today.

Melaka has 28 state seats and six parliamentary seats.

In ALOR SETAR, Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah is scheduled to have an audience with Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah Ahad at 2 pm tomorrow at Dewan Mengadap, Istana Darul Aman, Kuala Lumpur to get the ruler’s consent to dissolve the state assembly.

“The announcement of the dissolution (of the Kedah state assembly) will be made after my audience,” he told reporters today.

The mandate of the Kedah government ends on June 23. The state has 36 state and 15 parliament seats.

In BENTONG, Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob is scheduled to have an audience with Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah tomorrow to get the Regent of Pahang ’s consent to dissolve the Pahang state assembly.

"Insya-Allah, I will have the audience tomorrow," he told reporters after opening Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Felda Chemomoi’s PTA meeting today.

He also said that Pahang BN will be launching the election manifesto for the state on Tuesday.

In KOTA KINABALU, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman told a press conference at his official residence in Sri Gaya that he had received the consent to dissolve the Sabah state assembly from Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin at 2.30 pm at the Istana Negeri.

In KANGAR, Menteri Besar Azlan Man also announced the dissolution after the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail gave his consent. - Bernama
