GE14 | Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has made an appeal for BN to be re-elected with a bigger mandate in the 14th general election.

In his speech announcing that Parliament would be dissolved tomorrow, Najib highlighted various government initiatives and transformation plans that have been implemented under his administration so far.

“From this point onwards, I will be going down to meet the people in all corners of the country - together with the deputy prime minister and other BN leaders - to explain and convince them (voters) of our manifesto and vision for Malaysia.

“This (manifesto) has been carefully planned so that voters will once again give us a mandate and opportunity to form a strong and stable government, with a strong majority,” Najib said in his speech which was broadcasted live on RTM around noon.

"What is most important is the road to transformation must not end here. The world has changed and we must not turn back or return to the dim, bleak, past era.

"Instead, together, we must continue the success of the nation's inclusive transformation plans, towards a brighter future which we can already foresee," he said.

'Nobody will be left behind'

At the same time, Najib also pledged that nobody would be left behind in plans envisioned for the country's future under BN rule.

Najib said this was based on his confidence that BN has in the past decade delivered various successes for the people and would continue to do so if entrusted with a bigger mandate.

"In fact, if the people continue to give us the mandate and elect the current BN government for the next five years, InsyaAllah, together with the other leaders, I promise that we will carry out our duties in a more effective manner...

"I also pledge and promise, as head of the government, together with the other leaders, we will develop this country from Perlis to Sarawak and Sabah, so that not a single area or person will be left out, on the principle that no one will be left behind," he stressed.

The announcement, made from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Putrajaya, comes three days after Najib celebrated his ninth anniversary in office.

This general election, which has been described as the 'mother of all elections', must be called by the Election Commission within 60 days after the dissolution of Parliament.
