GE14 | Following the announcement of Parliament's dissolution yesterday, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli's NGO Invoke will equip its volunteers with gadgets to help catch election cheats.

In a statement today, the PKR vice president appealed for donations to help fund their election preparations nationwide, which will concentrate on helping Pakatan Harapan's candidates in 103 marginal seats.

“We are buying pinhole cameras to be used by our volunteers stationed all over these marginal seats to deter attempts to cheat.

“Most importantly, we need to prepare 20,000 polling and counting agents around the country to become our last defence.

“Invoke has undertaken to prepare the polling and counting agents (Paca) kits for these 20,000 agents, which require a considerable sum of money,” he said in his appeal.

Advertising costs are expected to quadruple in the coming one month, he said, and campaign materials will also need to be printed.

'BN can only win by fraud'

He said he had spent the last two years travelling around the country campaigning in 43 marginal constituencies, clocking around 900 hours of ceramah and their broadcasts reaching 11 million views on Facebook over the past year.

“I could sense that the Malaysian public is ready for change. If BN wins this election, it is due to electoral fraud and lack of polling and counting agents on our part.”

Expressing confidence that Harapan has a good chance of victory despite the threat of three-cornered fights, he said his NGO has spent the last two years preparing for GE14.

“I admit I do get cold feet sometimes, after all we are about to face Najib Abdul Razak’s gigantic resources. Yet I take comfort that this is the best preparation the opposition had had in so many years.”

“We are into the last 30 days of campaigning.

“We can level the playing field against Najib’s immense resources if we have just 0.001 percent of the money he is going to spend in this election,” he said, calling on volunteers and donors to support their efforts.
