GE14 | The DAP tonight unveiled three Malay candidates who will be contesting in the 14th general election in Pahang.

Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji, who is the Pahang opposition leader and incumbent Mentakab assemblyperson, will contest the parliamentary seat of Raub.

Raub's incumbent is Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz, who last year suffered a stroke. He previously served as Pulau Manis state assemblyperson when he was still in Umno.

Tengku Zulpuri is expected to up against MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun.

The other two Malay candidates will contest in the state seats.

Abu Bakar Lebai Sudin will be fielded in Pulai Manis, a constituency with 92 percent Malays which Umno won by a 5,596-vote majority in the last general election.

Meanwhile, Young Syefura Othman, better known as Rara, will be fielded in Ketari, a DAP seat.

The announcements were made by party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and chairperson Tan Kok Wai at a ceramah in Bentong tonight.

Lim also confirmed that environmental activist Wong Tack will have a second go in Bentong against MCA president Liow Tiong Lai.

Wong Tack narrowly lost to Liow by 379 votes in the last general election.

The announcement ended speculation that incumbent Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua would be moved to Bentong.

"The parliamentary seat of Bentong is an important battle as he will face off against Liow.

"If we want to save Malaysia, we need to win Bentong, only then can we replace BN," said Lim.

He also announced that M Manogaran will contest in Cameron Highlands.

Manogaran lost to BN by only 462 votes in the last general election.

The other state seat candidates announced were Leong Yu Mun (Triang), Woo Chee Wan (Mentakab) DR Kamache (Sabai), Lee Chin Chen (Bilut), Chow Yu Hui (Tras) and Chong Yoke Kong (Tanah Rata).

All six are incumbent DAP seats.

Tanah Rata assemblyperson Leong Ngah Ngah and two-term Teras representative Choong Siew Onn will be retiring.
