Incumbent Kepong lawmaker Dr Tan Seng Giaw has been dropped from the DAP's line-up to defend his seat in the upcoming general election.

In the announcement made by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in Petaling Jaya tonight, the eight-term Kepong MP was replaced by incumbent Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng.

Tan was not around when the announcement was made tonight.

On the other hand, incumbent Selangor state speaker Hannah Yeoh - who is making her first foray contesting in a parliamentary seat - will be fielded at the Segambut seat.

Yeoh has served as the Subang Jaya state assemblyperson since 2008.

She is expected to face off against Gerakan's Raja Sara Petra.

Speaking to reporters later, Yeoh said she will not be defending her state seat.

"The party will announce the candidate for Subang Jaya very soon," she said.

Meanwhile, the DAP's three other incumbent Federal Territory MPs will be defending their seats.

They are Tan Kok Wai (Cheras), Fong Kui Lun (Bukit Bintang) and Teresa Kok (Seputeh).

Tan, just last week, said that he was still interested to defend his seat in the upcoming general election.

Tan, who will be celebrating his 76th birthday next month, had insisted that he was still strong and able to help the people.

He, however, said that it was up to the party leadership to choose him or otherwise.

Talk was rife that Tan would be dropped from defending his seat especially after his comments as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) vice-chairperson in 2016 that the prime minister should not be held accountable over 1MDB.

The year prior, Tan was the sole DAP lawmaker absent at the 2016 Budget voting, admitting that he missed the voting as he was watching live coverage of the Paris attacks on TV.

In the last general election, Tan retained the Kepong seat with a majority of 40,307 votes, beating two challengers, PPP's A Chandrakumanan and independent Yee Poh Ping.
