Harapan S'gor negotiations bogged down by bum seats
GE14 | Selangor Pakatan Harapan's seat negotiations are being delayed because nobody wants the difficult seats, said incumbent Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.
“The seat negotiations are stuck because of two things – 'sure win', and 'sure lose'.
“Everyone wants the 'sure win' seats, no one wants the 'sure lose' ones."
GE14 | Selangor Pakatan Harapan's seat negotiations are being delayed because nobody wants the difficult seats, said incumbent Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.
“The seat negotiations are stuck because of two things – 'sure win', and 'sure lose'.
“Everyone wants the 'sure win' seats, no one wants the 'sure lose' ones.
“That's why its stuck, because when we want to give (a seat) they reject it, and the seat that one wants, everyone also wants,” he said at a press conference at his office today.
He was explaining why the state was taking so long to have its seat negotiations for the 14th general election (GE14) finalised among the four Harapan parties Amanah, Bersatu, PKR and DAP.
Meanwhile, Khalid confirmed that PKR had expressed interest to contest the Paya Jaras state seat, but said any decision related to seat allocations, will be taken after discussions with Harapan component parties.
"So far, Paya Jaras has been allocated to Amanah, but now there's a request from PKR for the same seat.
"The matter will be settled in the negotiations committee stage and if the seat swap is agreed to, we (Amanah) will get any replacement seat," said Khalid.
According to Khalid, Harapan has to conduct several discussions and changes in seats, following the Election Commission's redelineation exercise.
"We have to do some fine-tuning. We are still discussing the matter to find a harmonious conclusion.
"With the redelineation, we have to reassess whether to maintain existing candidates, swap seats, among others," he said.
