MCA intends to get to the bottom of the fracas at the party's Youth 38th annual general meeting last Friday.

MCA Youth deputy secretary Liow Tiong Lai said a meeting to discuss the matter will convene soon.

"A report will be handed over to Lim Ah Lek, who is the head of the party's disciplinary committee, and Youth chief Ong Tee Keat," said Liow, in a press statement.

"The detailed report will cover every incident that took place on that day (Saturday)," he added.

The five-member committee, Liow said, will comprise himself, MCA Youth vanguard chief Lee Li Yew, central committee members Lim Boon Tiong and Tay Khim Seng, and legal bureau chief Simon Lim Seng Chai

The Youth AGM at the Flamingo Hotel in Kuala Lumpur was marred by fistfights, 'flying' chairs and a bomb scare. The meeting also saw the sacking of two key leaders.

An emergency resolution backed by 730 delegates was passed to dismiss Youth secretary-general Yew Teong Look and deputy Youth chief Loh Seng Kok, both aligned to party president Dr Ling Liong Sik's faction which is currently at odds with deputy president Lim Ah Lek's faction. Loh is Ling's political secretary.

Nineteen delegates opposed the resolution while 13 abstained. Despite a high turnout of 1,187 members, only about 800 stayed back to vote on the nine remaining resolutions, four of which touched on party affairs such as a limited tenure for the presidency.

Yew left the meeting with some 300 delegates and 25 other central committee members before the resolution were passed.

This was after several delegates, believed to be Yew's supporters, failed in their bid to adjourn the AGM and dismiss the Speaker with their emergency motions.

The AGM later ruled that all decisions and motions made that day were conclusive, effectively closing the door for any judicial review in the future.
