Those campaigning for BN in Kuching, Sarawak, are faced with a canine problem.

According to Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) Muara Tabuan unit head Paruwadi Musa, their campaign work is impeded by dogs let out by their owners.

Borneo Post reported him as stating that he believed the dogs were deliberately let out by their owners as most of the locals are opposition supporters.

“Each time we went there the dogs would either bark at us or worse, chase after us.

“Being chased and barked at by dogs is a nasty experience but nevertheless, we will continue to do our job.

“We do not want such tactic to break our spirit,” Paruwadi added.

Sarawak has been facing a rabies problem, with the virus having killed five people since June 30 last year.

In January, authorities declared 28 areas to be rabies-positive in five divisions in Sarawak, namely Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman and Sarikei.

Meanwhile, Paruwadi urged all PBB members to support Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar's renomination as a BN candidate for the coming general election.

“Wan Junaidi can still serve the people well as he is very familiar with them.

“He has served the people well and we still want him as our representative. I hope the BN top leaders will consider renominating him for this election,” he added.

Paruwadi also hoped that Wan Junaidi would help to solve the many problems the people of Tabuan Melayu have if he were returned as their elected representative.

Wan Junaidi is the caretaker minister of natural resources and environment and the Santubong parliamentary seat incumbent.
