GE14 | Selangor Pakatan Harapan has finally reached an agreement on the allocation of seats between the four parties after several deadline extensions.

In a statement today, the state chiefs of the four parties said the coalition will offer reputable candidates with integrity and commitment to serve the people and lead Selangor to greater heights.

"We are confident that the unity among the Harapan leadership and its members in Selangor will increase the confidence of Selangorians in our administration, and allow us to continue to lead the state’s economic development and people-centred policies," said the four leaders in a joint statement today.

The signatories of the statement are Selangor PKR head Mohamed Azmin Ali, Selangor DAP head Tony Pua, Selangor Amanah head Izham Hashim and Selangor Bersatu head Abdul Rashid Asari.

According to Selangor Harapan elections director Dr Xavier Jeyakumar, PKR has been allocated 21 seats, followed by DAP (16), Amanah (10) and Bersatu (9).

He explained that the formula applied for seat allocations in Selangor were the same as other states, where the party assigned to lead the coalition will have more seats.

"Moreover, we have a sitting menteri besar from PKR and our administration has notched many achievements.

"Winnability and safeguarding the interest of Selangorians, as well as making sure Harapan retains Selangor, was also a key consideration," he said.

The full list of Selangor Harapan candidates will be introduced in coming days, he said, adding that heads of all four parties have signed a written agreement on seat allocation. 

In the 2013 elections, when Pakatan Rakyat coalition allocated 20 seats to PKR, 15 to DAP and 21 seats to PAS.

PAS has vowed to field candidates for 43 out of 56 state seats.
