Umno Youth exco member Mat Mazlan Abu left his home immediately after hearing that the prime minister's wife had passed away.

However, Mat Mazlan's wish to pay his last respects to Endon Mahmood at Putrajaya was dealt a cruel twist of fate when he was killed in a road accident this morning.

According to Bernama , his vehicle had been involved in a fatal collision near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang at about 8.30 am.

Umno Youth public relations officer Isa Nikmat said Mat Mazlan's remains have been taken to his hometown in Muar, Johor, for burial.

The deceased, who is also the deputy chairperson of Umno Youth's Arts, Culture and Heritage Bureau, leaves behind a widow Mastura Salleh and five children.

He was also the Umno Youth chief for the Pasir Gudang division in Johor.
