GE14 | MCA president Liow Tiong Lai has been urged to apologise for allegedly misusing government assets in the form of Road Transport Department (RTD) outriders.

Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong said Liow, who is also caretaker transport minister, had used the RTD outriders to escort him to an MCA campaign in Yong Peng yesterday.

"We all know that in normal times, government machinery can't be used for political purposes, what more during the election.

"This event was not by the Transport Ministry, RTD, or any government agency. It is clearly an MCA political campaign. Why was the RTD involved?

"I urge Liow to explain his use of RTD machinery for his party's interest, and apologise for abusing government assets," Liew said.

He also urged Liow to pledge that he would not repeat this act again.

MCA had held an “anti-encirclement” rally last night, with the theme referring to allegations that DAP was on a mission to "eliminate" MCA and Gerakan.

Among those who spoke at the event was MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong, who Liew is challenging for the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat.
