Zahid gives Bagan Datuk's Indian community a sneak peek at manifesto

GE14 | Caretaker deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today revealed some of the things in store for Bagan Datuk’s Indian community in the BN’s special general election manifesto for the parliamentary constituency.

Zahid, who is also the incumbent MP for Bagan Datuk, said among these were free crematorium services, free tuition for Indian children sitting for major examinations and reserving 10,000 jobs for the community in the industrial sector that is being developed in Bagan Datuk.

“Asides these, we will also provide TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) for those who are interested at Polytechnics and the Bagan Datuk Community College.

“I will also appoint a political secretary from the Indian community in Bagan Datuk who will operate from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office. This is to help the Indian community in Bagan Datuk and throughout the country,” he said.

He was speaking at the “Kalvi Viratham” event organised by Sri Murugan Centre (SMC) for the Indian community in Ladang Jendarata Bahagian 1 in Hutan Melintang here today.

Present were SMC founder M Thambirajah and Bagan Datuk district officer Hamzah Husin.

Ahmad Zahid also promised a yearly allocation of RM2 million for the next five years to SMC if BN was returned the mandate in the 14th general election.

“If SMC can improve on the results of Indian students in the examinations, I will double the amount. This is the sign of my support,” he said.

The BN’s special manifesto for Bagan Datuk is scheduled to be launched after nominations on April 28.
