GE14 | Bandar Tun Razak MCA division chairperson Chew Yin Keen has vowed that he will not sabotage the BN candidate for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat.

He pledged to support Adnan Abu Seman in light of MCA's agreement to loan its traditional seat to Umno for this coming general election.

"I support him 100 percent. We should have the spirit of BN. We should not sabotage," he told Malaysiakini.

Chew, who is also Bandar Tun Razak BN chief, said he has set aside his sadness over the issue in order to ensure the ruling coalition is triumphant in the polls.

"Sadness is in the past. We have to face the election now. (No point) feeling sad every day, I have to take care of my health as well.

"We must unite to face the 14th general election, BN must win the battle," he stressed.

Chew said he had been working and serving the Bandar Tun Razak constituency for the past 10 years with no promise that he would be chosen as the candidate for the seat.

This morning, the MCA division leader and 20 of his supporters attended the presentation of appointment letters to BN candidates in the Federal Territories held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Both Chew and Adnan were seen exchanging pleasantries.

MCA had contested Bandar Tun Razak for five terms and gave its blessings to Chew as the potential candidate for the seat.

Bandar Tun Razak Umno chief Rizalman Mokhtar, who became embroiled in a methamphetamine controversy recently, had openly demanded the seat to be given to Umno.

However, Rizalman was not fielded despite the police clearing him of having tested positive for drug abuse.

Meanwhile, incumbent Setiawangsa MP Ahmad Fauzi Zahari (photo), who attended this morning's event in PWTC, accepted the decision to field Zulhasnan Rafique for the seat.

“Whatever that I feel must not surpass what the party has decided. I am a little bit sad for not contesting. It's human nature to feel that way.

“However, I'm not disappointed as I had been given the opportunity to serve the people of Setiawangsa," he said.

Ahmad Fauzi also dismissed the possibility of sabotage, saying he had instructed his supporters to refrain from such activities.
