GE14 | Civil servants, whether on permanent or contract basis, who have been chosen as candidates in the 14th general election on May 9, must resign from their posts.

Chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa said it was the responsibility of the civil servants to abide by this procedure which had been implemented before.

“We have to look at the number (of civil servants) after the nomination of candidates this Saturday,” he told reporters at a visit programme to the Kuala Krai Hospital (HKK) organised by the National Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita) in Kuala Krai today.

Also present were Puspanita president Rohani Abdullah, Kelantan Health director Ahmad Razin Ahmad Mahir and HKK director Dr Mohd Salleh Mat Jusoh.

During the programme, Ali who is also Puspanita advisor, presented an RM103,000 donation from the association to HKK for the purchase of equipment and medicine as well as for the patients.

Earlier, as part of his two-day visit to Kelantan, Ali also visited the new Kuala Krai hospital which was reported to be 99 percent completed.

He said the RM300-million hospital was equipped with sophisticated equipment, which proves that the federal government wanted to help the people of Kelantan.
